Mash bill

A four-grain corn mash led by Bloody Butcher corn; Jeptha Creed has not published the proportions. The label calls it whiskey distilled from bourbon mash, and the corn is the same red heirloom dent the Nethery family grows on its Shelbyville farms for the distillery's bourbons.

Why it's craft

Jeptha Creed's moonshine is clear whiskey straight off the still, distilled from a bourbon mash built on the Bloody Butcher corn the Nethery family grows on its own farms. The distillery, opened in Shelbyville in 2016 by mother and daughter Joyce and Autumn Nethery, grows, ferments, distills and bottles on site, so this bottle shows the farm's corn with no barrel aging at all.
