65% corn, 30% rye, 5% malted barley. New Riff cooks it as a sour mash, adding back part of a previous batch, and ferments it in open tanks where the distillery's own microflora can work on it. The water comes from a limestone aquifer directly beneath the Newport distillery.

Why it's craft
New Riff distills, ages and bottles all of its own whiskey in Newport, Kentucky, across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, and bottles every spirit without chill filtration. Ken Lewis founded the distillery in 2014, and it is still independently owned by one family. This bottling adds an eight-year age statement to New Riff's core range, from a mash with 30 percent rye.
