Why it's craft
Pinhook does not own a distillery. Since 2017 it has had Castle & Key, in the restored Old Taylor Distillery in Frankfort, distill its own bourbon and rye mash bills, and True Small Batch is its annual program that blends only a few of those barrels at a time. The proof is set by the blend rather than a fixed house strength. Master blender Sean Josephs and a selecting group choose the barrels.
