- Light and sweet, with vanilla, butterscotch and caramel over green apple and pear, a dusting of cinnamon and a faint charred-maple note
- palate
- Thin-bodied and soft; vanilla, honey and toffee lead, then baked apple, nutmeg and white pepper over a light layer of oak
- finish
- Short to medium; vanilla, toffee and a little cinnamon hold briefly before dry oak and pepper take over, fading thin and slightly bitter

Why it's craft
Nearest Green is the lowest-strength, mixing-focused bottle from Uncle Nearest, the Shelbyville company founded in 2017 and named for the distiller Nearest Green. It is blended by Victoria Eady Butler, a fifth-generation descendant of Nearest Green, from whiskey distilled and aged elsewhere in Tennessee and bottled at the Nearest Green Distillery. Since August 2025 the company has been run by a court-appointed receiver, who as of October 2026 was negotiating a sale of its assets.
