Stephen McCarthy founded Clear Creek in 1985 to make European-caliber fruit brandies from Pacific Northwest orchards; the McCarthy's peated Oregon Single Malt extended that craft ethos into whiskey. Under Hood River Distillers ownership, the Holstein-pot peated malt aged in Oregon oak remains a category pioneer for American single malt.
