Rick Wasmund founded Copper Fox in Sperryville, Virginia, building a whisky identity around in-house malting and fruitwood smoke — applewood and cherrywood kiln-dried malt — then maturing in ex-bourbon barrels with progressive toasted applewood and oak chip infusions. The Original American Rye (2/3 rye, 1/3 barley) is the house classic: double pot-distilled low, non-chill filtered, and unmistakably wood-and-orchard driven. A second location in Williamsburg expands the visitor footprint.

Sperryville tours run about 45 minutes on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and weekends, and cost about $10. Copper Fox also has a second location in Williamsburg, (757) 903-2076.
