Irish immigrant James Watt Kelly founded J.W. Kelly & Co. in Chattanooga in 1866 and built a whiskey business that included Deep Springs Distillery, whose labels were named for Tennessee places, among them Silver Spring (1900–1919). Prohibition ended the original house. Chattanooga importer Keeper's Quest Brands, led by Ed and Lynn Kohl, relaunched the name in 2017 with Old Milford bourbon as a non-distilling house that selects, ages and bottles sourced whiskey in Chattanooga. The current range: Old Milford straight bourbon and its double-oaked Single Barrel Select, Golden Age straight rye, Amarone-finished Melrose rye, and Silver Springs sweet rye in standard and 8-year single-barrel bottlings.
