McConnell's traces to a Belfast whisky house founded in 1776 by brothers John and James McConnell. Belfast Distillery Company revived the brand and is restoring distillation at Crumlin Road Gaol with Master Distiller/Blender Graeme Millar. The flagship 5 Year Old is a blend of Irish malt and grain whiskies matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks for vanilla sweetness, stone fruit, butterscotch, and pepper spice.
Owned by Belfast Distillery Company.
