The Macallan has distilled on Speyside since 1824 and is owned by The Edrington Group. It is known for sherry-seasoned oak casks, which shape the whisky's color and flavor as much as the spirit itself. Double Cask expressions marry sherry-seasoned casks of American and European oak, and Sherry Oak remains the classic European-oak line. The estate visitor centre is at Easter Elchies, and visits are by appointment.
