“Twelve-year bourbon given a second round in slow-toasted American oak: coconut and cinnamon roll over dark tobacco.”
Tasting notes
- nose
- cinnamon roll, coconut candy and maple syrup, with sponge cake, licorice root and a spread of baking spice, then strawberry and cherry jam and lemon zest
- palate
- woody and dark; blonde tobacco, black tea and campfire ash, crystallized ginger and cocoa turning to brownie, with mint and a fresh thread of cucumber and lychee over chewy tannin
- finish
- long; opens bright with lychee and matcha, then turns creamy, with shredded coconut, nut milk and chocolate liqueur lingering
Mash bill
A blend of several whiskeys, so no single grain split.
Corn-majority straight bourbon recipes from distilleries in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee; Barrell has not published the grain proportions for this release. The barrels were 12 to 15 years old when the blending team chose them for their depth of oak, spice and caramelized sweetness. The finish in slow-toasted American oak then layers a second wood over that grain base.
- Cask

Why it's craft
This Red Label release takes bourbons that were 12 to 15 years old, from distilleries in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee, and gives them a further spell in slow-toasted American oak casks. Barrell Craft Spirits distilled none of it: the Louisville company, founded in 2013, buys barrels from established producers, blends them, and releases each whiskey at cask strength with no chill filtration. After selling a second plant in 2026, it consolidated all of its blending at its original Gilmore facility.
