80% rye, 15% barley malt, 5% rye malt. The grain comes from Pennsylvania farms, and the rye malt alongside the barley malt is part of the recipe Dad's Hat developed with Michigan State University's Artisan Distilling Program to recreate traditional Pennsylvania rye. The mash gets a week-long, controlled fermentation.

Why it's craft
The finishing casks here held Vya Sweet Vermouth from Quady Winery, and the young rye spends three months in them after its time in small quarter casks. Dad's Hat makes the whiskey itself in Bristol, Pennsylvania, fermenting local grain for a week and distilling it on a pot still with a side column. Herman Mihalich and John Cooper founded the independent distillery in 2010 to revive the state's rye tradition.
