Cherrywood-smoked malted barley and rye; FEW does not publish the split. The barley is smoked over cherrywood rather than peat, and the distillery describes the result as smoky cherry, charred caramel and smoked-meat barbecue. As a malt whiskey it is made mostly from malted barley, with the rye adding spice.

Why it's craft
Smokeworks was released in August 2024 to mark the city's rebuilding after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, and its smoke comes from malted barley smoked over cherrywood. FEW mashes, ferments and distills the smoked malt and rye itself in Evanston, where it has made whiskey from grain since 2011. The distillery is part of Heaven Hill, which bought FEW's parent company in 2022.
