“Cherrywood-smoked barley in a single malt with the feel of a cappuccino.”
Tasting notes
- nose
- Smoked almond and honey, with toffee, spiced apple and buttery pastry
- palate
- Creamy and cereal-sweet, moving through cappuccino foam, semi-sweet chocolate and thyme, with a thin thread of fruitwood smoke
- finish
- Medium; spiced honey and caramel corn hold on, darkening to treacle and a tingle of Szechuan pepper
Mash bill
- Malted barley100%
100% malted barley, part of it smoked over cherrywood. FEW mixes smoked and unsmoked malt and uses cherrywood smoke rather than peat, so the smoke stays a gentle, woody note. With no corn or rye in the mash, the barley and the used barrels carry the whisky.

Why it's craft
FEW releases only 500 to 600 bottles of this single malt a year, and part of its barley is smoked over cherrywood instead of peat. The malt is mashed, fermented and distilled in Evanston, where FEW has run as a grain-to-glass distillery since its founding in 2011. FEW is now part of Heaven Hill, which bought its parent company in 2022.
