“An all-rye bonded whiskey that shows High West's own pot-still spirit with nothing blended in.”
Tasting notes
- nose
- maraschino cherry, fresh lime, cinnamon-sugar churro and cookie dough, with mint, juniper and a touch of leather at the edges
- palate
- chocolate-orange, watermelon and lemon peel over creamy toffee, then a dry rye bite of red pepper, coriander and eucalyptus
- finish
- medium length; orange flesh and cool mint, turning herbal with juniper, eucalyptus and a little oak
Mash bill
- Rye80%
- Malted rye20%
80% rye, 20% malted rye. There is no corn or barley in it: the malted share is rye too, so every grain in the mash is rye. This is the same pot-still recipe High West blends into Rendezvous and Double Rye, here bottled on its own.
- Cask
- New charred American oak
Why it's craft
This was High West's first bottled-in-bond release, launched in 2024: rye from one distiller and one season at the Wanship distillery, aged at least four years under bond. High West made its name blending MGP rye with its own, and this bottle holds only the house pot-still spirit. The company has been owned by Constellation Brands since 2016.
