Ohio soft red winter wheat and two-row barley; the proportions are not published. The wheat is grown in the clay-packed soil of northern Ohio, and Middle West says it gives the whiskey a baking-spice character. With no corn or rye in the mash, the wheat is shown on its own, much as barley is in a single malt.

Why it's craft
Middle West makes this whiskey from northern Ohio soft red winter wheat with a little barley, no corn or rye, and leaves it at barrel strength. It is mashed, fermented and distilled at the company's distillery in Columbus, which opened in 2008. The barrels come from Speyside Cooperage in Jackson, Ohio, and are toasted before charring.
