- caramel and pound cake up front, then cocoa, banana bread, dried pineapple and light toasted oak
- finish
- short to medium; brown sugar and cherry fade quickly, leaving black pepper, spearmint, lemon peel and a touch of sweet tobacco

64% corn, 30% rye, 6% malted barley. Thirty percent rye is a high share for bourbon, and Nelson's Green Brier presents the recipe as halfway between a bourbon and a rye. The component bourbons were distilled in Indiana and Kentucky, and the company has not named the distilleries that made them.

Why it's craft
Nelson Brothers Classic is a blend of straight bourbons bought from distilleries in Indiana and Kentucky and married and bottled in Nashville, so the work that shapes it is the choice and blending of barrels. The name goes back to Charles Nelson, whose Green Brier distillery in Robertson County, Tennessee ran from the 1860s until state prohibition shut it in 1909. His descendants Andy and Charlie Nelson reopened the distillery in Nashville in 2014; Constellation Brands has owned it outright since the brothers left in 2024.
