“One Russell-chosen barrel, left unfiltered by cold for a fuller, oilier texture”
Tasting notes
- nose
- big oak and rich caramel with vanilla, brown sugar, graham cracker, cinnamon, nuts, cigar box, leather and a wisp of smoke
- palate
- full-bodied and creamy; toffee, chewy caramel and vanilla against rye spice, charred oak, licorice, leather and tobacco
- finish
- long; rye spice tapers into dark fruit, tobacco and leather with a malty sweetness, while oak, caramel and toffee recede and the spice stays last
Mash bill
- Corn75%
- Rye13%
- Malted barley12%
75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley. This is Wild Turkey's high-rye bourbon recipe, the same grains as Russell's Reserve 10 Year Old. Here the rye spice meets a single barrel's oak, leather and tobacco at a higher strength, so the grain's spice reads louder.
- Cask
- New charred oak, No. 4 "alligator" char

Why it's craft
Each bottle comes from a single barrel picked by Jimmy and Eddie Russell and is bottled at 110 proof without chill filtration, so flavor varies from barrel to barrel. Jimmy has worked at Wild Turkey since 1954 and Eddie since 1981, and the Russell's Reserve line carries their names. The bourbon is distilled and aged by Wild Turkey in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, a Campari Group distillery.
