- Malted barley100%
100% malted barley. Every grain was grown on Shelter Point Farm, the oceanfront property on northern Vancouver Island where the distillery stands, while the rest of the house range is made from Canadian two-row barley grown in British Columbia. Patrick Evans founded the distillery in 2011 to give the farm's barley a commercial use, and this bottling is the clearest form of that idea.
Why it's craft
The barley for this whisky was grown on Shelter Point Farm, and the distillery on the same land mashed, distilled, aged and bottled it, so the whole process happens in one place. Shelter Point was founded in 2011 by farmer Patrick Evans as an outlet for the farm's grain, and it distils in copper wash and spirit pot stills made by Forsyths, the Scottish still maker. The barrels age in warehouses close to the shore on northern Vancouver Island, and the distillery is now owned by Nelson Investments, a Vancouver Island company.
