100% malted barley. The barley is grown and malted in the Midwest, held in two 36-ton malt bins at the distillery and milled on a 1920s Boby mill before mashing. With no wine or sherry cask involved, this bottling shows the house malt with American oak alone.

Why it's craft
This is the most direct of the Courage & Conviction bottlings: single malt matured only in first-fill bourbon casks from Kentucky for at least four years, with no wine or sherry cask in the mix. Virginia Distillery Co. mills, mashes, ferments and double distills its malt on Scottish-made copper pot stills in Lovingston, then matures and bottles it on site. It goes into the bottle at its natural color and without chill filtration.
