- Malted barley100%
100% malted barley. Virginia Distillery Co. buys barley grown and malted in the Midwest and mills it in Lovingston on a 1920s Boby mill, one of a handful in the country, which splits the grain into three parts for the grist. The mash is fermented into a wash of about 8% alcohol before it reaches the stills.
- Cask
- First-fill ex-bourbon casks and STR European red wine (cuvée) casks

Why it's craft
Double Cask Reserve is built from two separate maturations of the same Virginia single malt: one in first-fill bourbon casks, one in European red wine casks that were shaved, toasted and re-charred, each held at least five years before the two are vatted together. Virginia Distillery Co. makes the spirit itself in Lovingston, double distilling malted barley on copper pot stills built in Scotland. It is bottled at 96 proof without chill filtration.
