Why it's craft
This batch of Westland's Cask Exploration series takes the distillery's own single malt into casks from Washington wineries, among them Guardian Cellars and Force Majeure, with one Spanish Tempranillo cask type as the only outsider. Some of the whiskey spent its whole maturation in wine casks rather than a short finish. Westland was founded in Seattle in 2010 to make American single malt and mashes, ferments and distills its whiskey there; Rémy Cointreau has owned it since 2017.
