“Five-malt PNW Flagship — new oak + ex-bourbon + oloroso program in one core bottle”
Tasting notes
- nose
- custard filling, marionberry compote, maple brittle, and toasted marshmallow from the five-malt PNW bill
- palate
- almond nougat, crème brûlée, black tea, white flower, and malted milk balls over the new-oak, ex-bourbon, and oloroso cask mix
- finish
- soft malt sweetness and gentle oak spice
Mash bill
A blend of several whiskeys, so no single grain split.
Five-malt Pacific Northwest bill — Washington Select Pale Malt, Munich Malt, Extra Special Malt, Pale Chocolate Malt, and Brown Malt — with historical notes that some Flagship components have included a touch of heavily peated Bairds malt from Scotland as the house folded prior core range DNA into one bottle. The grain story is roasted malt depth, not a single pale base.
- Cask
- Mixed: Cooper’s Reserve new & used American oak, first-fill ex-bourbon, first- and second-fill ex-oloroso hogsheads/butts
- Finish
- Integrated multi-cask maturation (new/used American oak, ex-bourbon, ex-oloroso) rather than a late secondary finish
- Best served
- neat
Why it's craft
Seattle American single malt pioneer (Rémy Cointreau–owned but still craft-category defining); Flagship is the current house core.
