Why it's craft
Westward finishes this malt in barrels that held stout from local breweries, closing a loop with the beer its whiskey starts as: the distillery ferments its own barley wash with ale yeast in Portland before running it through its pot stills. Founded in 2004, Westward came through a 2025 bankruptcy sale to private investors and remains independent.
