Why it's craft
The Boss Hog is WhistlePig's single-barrel, barrel-strength rye, released in a new numbered edition since 2013, and recent editions have each carried an unusual cask finish. For the thirteenth, WhistlePig seasoned the finishing barrels with Egyptian black honey, a molasses syrup made from sugarcane, and tiger nut, a finish the brand bills as a world first. The rye was distilled in Kentucky and bought in; the finishing and bottling are WhistlePig's.
