“The bourbon half of the PiggyBack pair: six years in heavily charred new oak, corn-forward with a dash of rye.”
Tasting notes
- nose
- caramel corn and vanilla over oak, with toasted walnut, sultana, clove and a little leather
- palate
- maple and vanilla on a creamy body, then cinnamon, brown sugar, crisp apple and burnt orange peel turning to leather and a smoky oak edge
- finish
- long and gentle; maple and baking spice hold on, then settle into oak and a herbal note of green tea with a touch of honey
Mash bill

Why it's craft
WhistlePig made its name on rye, and PiggyBack Bourbon, launched in August 2022, was its move into an everyday bourbon at the same price as PiggyBack Rye. It brings together whiskey from WhistlePig's own Vermont stills and whiskey distilled in Indiana, aged six years and bottled at a full 100 proof. The company started in 2007 on a former dairy farm in Shoreham, Vermont, and began distilling there in 2015.
