Why it's craft
The apple wood is what sets this rye apart: fresh-cut staves are toasted and set in with the whiskey alongside the oak, adding fruit and a thread of smoke. The base is the blend Widow Jane uses for its Paradigm Rye, part made at its Red Hook distillery and part bought as straight rye from Kentucky and Indiana. Like every Widow Jane whiskey, it is cut to bottling strength with mineral water from the Rosendale limestone mines, and the Brooklyn house has belonged to Heaven Hill Brands since 2022.
