Bryan Nolt, a physician, founded Breckenridge Distillery in 2008 in Breckenridge, Colorado, and calls it the world's highest distillery. It has grown into a campus with a restaurant and retail shop, plus a tasting room on Main Street. The house whiskey uses Rocky Mountain snowmelt and a high-rye mash distilled on Vendome copper. The core Bourbon, High Proof and finished expressions blend Colorado distillate with high-rye bourbons sourced from Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana. Tilray Brands bought the distillery in December 2021 and still owns it.
