Patrick and Meagan Miller founded Talnua in Arvada, Colorado, after a bartender in a Galway pub poured them a newly released Irish single pot still whiskey on their honeymoon in 2011, when the style was not being made in the United States. The distillery, established in 2017, describes itself as the first outside Ireland dedicated to single pot still whiskey. Every spirit starts from a mash of 50% unmalted and 50% malted barley, fermented as separated wort and triple distilled in copper pot stills. The name joins the Irish words talamh, land, and nua, new. In October 2025 Talnua released its American White Oak Cask whiskey as a bottled-in-bond, and in 2026 the American Distilling Institute named it Distillery of the Year. Patrick Miller is co-founder and master distiller.
