Friends founded Yellow Rose in Houston in 2010 as the city's first legal whiskey distillery, naming it for the Texas folk heroine. They built a portfolio around handmade pot-still whiskey. Outlaw Bourbon, made from 100% Texas yellow corn, became the flagship. The distillery treats Houston's steep daily temperature swings and heavy angel's share as part of the whiskey's character. Zamora Company, maker of Licor 43, took a minority stake in 2017.
