Pete and Vienna Barger founded Southern Distilling Company in 2013 in Statesville, North Carolina, a town once billed as a pre-Prohibition liquor capital. The Bargers still own and operate it. The distillery runs Vendome continuous column and batch pot stills and makes the Southern Star line of wheated and high-rye bourbons. The Paragon series features the house wheated mash of corn, wheat and malted barley in small-batch and single-barrel cask-strength bottlings.
