John W. McCulloch founded Green River in Owensboro, Kentucky, in 1885, and it became the tenth-oldest licensed distillery in the state, known as "the Whiskey Without Regrets" until it was lost to history after Prohibition. The brand returned in 2022 with Green River Bourbon. The distillery's bourbons use 70% Kentucky-grown corn and 9% malted barley, with 21% rye in the house recipe and 21% wheat in the wheated one, and it also makes a rye of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. The whiskey ages in warehouses on the Owensboro grounds, some of them a century old. The distillery is the westernmost stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Bardstown Bourbon Co. bought Green River in 2022, and since March 2025 both have sat under Lofted Spirits, which Pritzker Private Capital owns.

Owned by Lofted Spirits.
